--- name: agents-md-sync description: >- Requires updating AGENTS.md when general skills, conventions, or cross-cutting agent patterns change in a repository. Use when editing agent configuration, adding or changing project skills (e.g. under .cursor/skills/ or .agents/skills/), or changing repo-wide agent workflows that other agents should assume. --- # Keep AGENTS.md in sync Whenever you **introduce or materially update** a **general** skill, convention, or cross-cutting pattern that applies to how agents work in the repository, **update `AGENTS.md`** in the same effort (same PR / same change set). **Counts as “general” (update AGENTS.md):** - New or changed skill families and how agents should discover/use them - Repo-wide agent workflows or directory conventions for skills - Cross-cutting policy bullets (e.g. CI/CD, security, commit rules) that agents must follow everywhere in the repo - Any project skill that defines behavior agents should assume by default **Usually does not require AGENTS.md:** typo fixes, file-local implementation details, one-off task completion with no new reusable pattern. If unsure, prefer a **short new bullet or section** in `AGENTS.md` rather than leaving the doc stale. Keep entries actionable and durable—avoid dumping transient task notes.
